This is a showreel of some WATERCUBE’s realizations. Creativity has always been a distinctive Made in Italy trait. The challenge that moves Watercube has been, since its birth, to achieve “greatness” not only by reviving the nobility of traditional Italian fountain makers through modern eyes, but also looking for the virtuous combination between creativity and engineering required in water control. Our “water architectures” are the result of an elaborated process, in which experience, technical skills, versatility and inventive blend in together, adding life, shape and substance to ideas.
The project has been updated with a new layout and new water features for increasingly amazing shows.

The “Serravalle Designer Outlet” is one of the largest in Europe. The first water feature has been set up in the main Plaza and consists of various interactive water jets; if requested, the area can be flooded or dried, giving choreography of ever-changing games. Going ahead, there is something that you would not expect to see there: a huge horse head drinking in a puddle of water, an elevated reflecting water table, which overflows on the entire perimeter and generates a further vertical sliding effect called “water wall”. Finally, in the new area added to the original complex, a dry deck feature is set up with a composition of 42 interactive water jets, moving with animated sequential effects.
STEP 3.
Well, we’ve done it. Thousand of meters of electric cables and pipelines, thousand of illuminating bodies and hundreds of nozzles are to their place. We are ready for the inauguration of this amazing water fountain.
STEP 2
Work continues tirelessly, day and night, the deadline for delivery of the fountain is in October. Climatic conditions involve the organization of turns of job in the least warm hours.
STEP 1 Work has started for the realization of the most complex work we have been involved to date. This fountain will become a focal point, a center of attraction for the whole city. The main actor will be the water wich, in its various expressions with a contemplative, playful and ornamental role, will infects the viewers with its energy, plasticity, movement and sound.
The project is related to a river inside the Al Shaheed Park in Kuwait City (phase II). The river is divided in 4 main parts: the green grass part, the pebbles zone, the cascade and shore zone and the animated fountain. Inside these areas the design and realization of 9 water features has been appointed to WATERCUBE.
In recent months, Serravalle has seen its streets and squares slowly changing. The Outlet Village is growing and becoming even more comfortable and exciting: an essential destination for any shopper. The Main Plaza will be enriched with a new, wonderful and bigger fountain, but other water features will take place inside the complex.
Opening of the “Centre” in Arese, the biggest shopping centre in Italy and the third in Europe, situated in the historical Alfa Romeo area, from where some of the most beautiful cars in the history of motoring had been created. The project has considered the creation of a water feature in the external area in front of the building. It’s a basin of water with two scenographic connotations: in one case it can present a calm reflecting surface, in the other one it can be animated by sequential jets, dancing in accord to pre-arranged choreographies. Acting on the planning of a motorized valve, water floods the recessed channel that hosts the nozzles, so getting a composition of Foam Jets.
In 2013 WATERCUBE was given the charge for the supply and installation of mep components for water features to be performed for New Doha International Airport (NDIA) in Doha, Qatar. Now the water architectures designed by the architect Citterio have taken shape at the Passenger Terminal Complex Lounges. Nine water experiences, luxurious and refined materials, stone and glass water walls, mirror finish steel basins, green walls, this is what passengers can enjoy during a relaxing permanence in the Qatar Airways Lounges.
WATERCUBE has been given by Hider Consulting Middle East Limited the mandate of designing water features for the Gold Line and Red Line North & South of the New Doha Metro in Qatar. At each entrance of several stations, a Water Wall flowing will be realized next to the escalator, while in the pedestrian walkways serving the metro entrances, a Dry Deck water feature with interactive water jets will entertain people.

Albert Einstein quotes:
“Whatever you may think of, nature did it before”.
Throughout the time, many took inspiration from Mother Nature in order to capture its essence, secrets and spectacular beauty. Today, this approach can be universally recognized also in architecture and design as “biomimetic“: a mix of biology and technology for the purpose of solving complex human problems.
By observing nature, it is possible to find efficient solutions fostering sustainable growth and harmony between humans and environment.

What distinguishes Watercube is the achievement to control the unpredictable through technology, determining new shapes.
The use of virtual modelling tool is an evidence of Watercubeís attitude of planning before actual executions. This is how we are able to shape and adjust water in unusual roles, creating the illusion of breaking nature rules.
We believe in continuous research to always improve the know-how gained with years of experience.

For us it is not enough to deliver a simple working product, we want our customers to benefit from pollution reduction and closed water loop system for less water and power consumption. Fountains that are properly designed can totally find a place within sustainable projects.
This is our approach and the key themes of our philosophy: water preservation (recirculation treatments using non-polluting alternatives to chemical treatments); energy savings (control systems, LED lighting, air-water combination systems); reduced environmental impact (recyclable materials, minimum polluting impact) and environmental benefits (filtration / air ionization, micro climatic comfort).

We tested the water consumption and the total electric power requirement considering the characteristics of the interactive nozzles, lighting fixtures and pumping system. Special care has been taken to define all the characteristics of the hydraulic and electrical systems (studying the flowcharts), the wall structures and the correct arrangement of the technical room.
In-depth details, and architectural section drawings are extracted from concept design to allow proper installation of the systems. The water performance depends on the positioning of the technical systems and the resulting geometry of the architectural elements involved, such as stones, overflow edges, and collection drains.

During the off-line programming, the main water and light choreography is defined and followed by an on-site implementation phase. During the latter they are transferred and applied to the fountain, establishing timing and sequences straight insitu.
This transforms the installation into a ìmusical fountain.î The water jets seem to dance with the selected songs and melodies controlled from a DMX console (Digital MultipleX). Perfectly synchronizing the water jets, the power of the pumps, and the colours of the LED lights with the songs you want, you can create exciting effects.
